Like everyone else in lockdown, I have been tidying papers and came across a file of first person accounts of various plagues, which I collected years ago for an article on the Black Death. Of course there have been other anthologies of sources, as well as major works by Boccaccio, Pepys, Defoe, Camus and others, but I thought it would be interesting to put up this very personal one, a little at a time, to see how our experience compares with theirs. Anyone who has a contribution – especially from far flung corners of the world – would be more than welcome to send in suggestions.
